I was working part time then and my husband was new to the country, so I wanted to travel with him before he would get up tied with everyday boring routine life. I would have to classify this trip as a budget trip. I got two return tickets from toronto to vancouver, 14 day advance purchase via greyhound bus...that what my budget allowed. The tickets were $400 for two people back then.
We sat down in a greyhound bus and travelled for 3 days before we got to vancouver. We saw different cities, towns, and sceneries. We stopped at different places to get food. I would describe the bus trip to be an adventure in itself.
We reached the hotel and realized that it doesn't have air-conditioning. In toronto every hotel had air-conditioning...so, i guess i was used to that. There was no fan either. When it used to get really hot, we would open the fridge and freezer door to compensate for the air-conditioning.
In three to four days, we saw vancouver's attractions including the steam clock, the downtown, stanley park and the suspension bridge.
I am afraid of bridges and wanted to go back once i saw it and top it all...there were some children on the bridge that we jumping and shouting and were making the bridge move. So, i closed my eyes and with the help and encouragement of my husband we crossed it.
This reminded me that we also took and bus and cruise to get to victoria. I absolutely felt in love with the city..I even saw the underwater equarium and saw my first imex experience. The movie was related to dinosaurs and was very interesting. By the time we took the bus and cruise back, it was 11 pm...when we reached vancouver. I can never forget the full moon and chilly breeze from that night on the cruise.
