Not wanting to miss out on seeing another city in another country only 2 hours away by ferry we decided to do a day trip to Tallinn, departing Helsinki at 1030 and returning on the 1930. Simples, especially at a cost of only 32 quid each.

Weather was hit and miss in Helsinki and continued to be so in Tallinn but that didn't dampen our spirits and we had a wonderful day exploring the beautiful walled Old Town and all it's twists and turns. Russian dolls peered out from windows stocked full of Amber. Sam took full advantage of my name being everywhere and made sure I posed for as many stupid photos as possible.

Half way through our wanders it started spitting but that soon turned into torrential rain, which even my new waterproof trench would have struggled with, so we sought shelter in the comfort of restaurant and its giant umbrella, heater, blankets and prosecco.

Once the heavens cleared we moved on from Old Town and into a shopping arcade for some retail therapy... I just know I can find some more room in my pack somewhere.... Sam??? Resolution: just buy a new handbag. Result.

Walking back into Old Town we stopped off at a lovely little french bakery for coffee and cake before heading back to the ferry terminal and two hours later Helsinki.
