SAM :In Tokyo there is a dog called James who is the chicest Chihauhau in Japan. He is fortunate enough to be owned by Ian and Rie and lives in a downtown apartment close to his doggie mates.

Every morning Rie gets up at 6am to walk James - she is a saint. This gives James time to catch up with his friends in the local park and stretch his legs before heading home to watch tv and chill out whilst his humans go to work. In the park he discusses local fashions, the latest in dog biscuits and where hip dogs are seen around the city.

On Saturdays posh dogs go to the dog run. Here dogs display the latest fashions and hair cuts - bunches are all the rage, particularly on poodles. James is too cool for bunches and prefers the much cooler 'Doggles' look - yes, that's right, sunglasses for dogs.... you could not expect your dog to turn up at the park without them, they would be the laughing stock.

James is a fashion icon, whatever the weather he can find an outfit to suit, combat anorak for wet mornings, Addidas tracksuit for a swift jog in the park, rock and roll jacket for a session at the pub. From trainer dog to rock dog, James has it all.

Whilst we were shopping in the local shops, James took us to his favourite shop. The doggie bakery, all biscuits are freshly baked on site and cut into attractive bone shapes or, if you are really lucky, cat shapes. All manner of treats are on sale at huge amounts of dollars, it all looks good enough to eat, especially to a hungry backpacker. James had his birthday cake from the bakery when he had his party .......!

The shop also houses a boutique of designer outfits and quite frankly darling you can't be seen in anything else.......... our particular favourite was the Dior vest being sported by a rather overweight pouch called "Pudding". For all sport lovers the latest must have doggie outfit is the Japan Football strip. We did think about buying James one for letting us stay in his apartment for 2 weeks, but as they were 35 quid - the cost of a brand new City shirt, we decided against it. Besides, James already has more clothes than Phil and I put together, and we can live for a week on that sort of money, so we settled for some bacon bits instead - James did not seem to mind!!!!!!

In order to keep himself in prime shape and looking gorgeous, James also visits the doggie parlour once a month for a wash, clip and general going over to keep him looking on top form. This is important because he is fed up of making out with a cushion and fancies a bit of action, so it is vital he is always looking his best.

The final thing you need to know about James is that he has his own water filter which is filled with bottled water, he really is a posh dog, we drank the water in Tokyo!!!!

So there you have it, an introduction to James the wonder dog, James knows it a "dog's life" and quite frankly my dear he does not give a damn, he is loving it!

Thanks for letting us stay James, we had a ball.
