We arrived in Rotorua yesterday and it really does stink! The sulphur from the geisers makes everywhere smell as if you've been stuck in the car with Charlie and Sam for a while ;-) We headed straight for the geisers when we arrived. They are quite incredible. Three of them erupt about 2/3 times every hour and can shoot up to 30 metres into the sky. We didn't see one go quite that high, but we did see one of the smaller ones. There are also lots of bubbling pools of mud, and hot pools which are up to 80 degrees. I have never been anywhere quite like it.

We also watched a Maori cultural performance, we heard traditional Maori singing and watched the Haka. I wouldn't want to come up against them in battle! I always owondered how a nation with such a small population could be so good at rugby. However, having seen the size of the Maori people I now have no questions left in my mind!

We unfortunately didn't take our iPad to the geisers so have no pictures for you yet as they're on our camera. But, I have posted some pictures of the views of the literally steaming lake from our room and the Polynesian spa with natural hot pools we're going to this morning. After that, we are catching a gondola up one of the mountains/volcanoes overlooking Rotorua. You can 'luge' all the way down. Guess who will win...
