I was planning on getting up at about half 7 this morning, but let's be honest with each other that was NEVER going to happen, I like being in bed way too much.

So I rolled out of bed at about 9, finished packing my bags and headed into the kitchen to grab Rhi and our food before Rhi and I checked out, and went to wake up American Alex (there was also a German Alex at one point – not counting female German Alex and an English Alex that I also know)who was kind enough to agree to drive us the airport this morning, although to be fair I did give him a massive box full of baking crap and Rhi gave him… well let’s not go there shall we, let’s just say that she lost a sock… cough cough… anyway…

So Alex drove us to the airport, where we proceeded to get lost trying to find the Jucy Rentals desk… there is only 1 room in this airport btw and of course because it is me I directed us in the opposite direction to what we needed to be, all the while we were dying and trying to carry a million pounds on our backs and with a hundred food bags in our hands – which may or may not be an exaggeration, you know me after all.

Once we had found the desk and managed to check in – thankfully not only do we get free camper hire, we also get free fully comp insurance with this van which is the best thing about this because let’s be honest last time we hired a car we almost died!

We got shown around 'Coco’ and got all our contracts signed and we were ready to go… First stop… New World supermarket.

Once we were all stocked up we headed out to Arrowtown to visit the Chinese Settlement, which we never had time to do last time we were here and waited for our friend Sara to get in touch with us… our original plan had been to visit Wanaka today to see how she is doing, however she has done her knee in skiing so it was a bad time for a visit, we instead headed up and around Lake Dustan in the direction of our overnight stop Mt Cook Village.

It is a good 3 and a half hour drive to get to the campsite we stayed at – but to break it up we stopped at a few places on the way, well one place, the viewpoint at Lake Pukaki, although the only thing we could really view was clouds – Mt. Cook was hidden away :(

We went for a walk after we had parked up anyway, although we only went to the viewpoint over the Mueller glacial lake, and like the other times I have been here there was icebergs floating in it which is always cool, although they weren’t that nice looking, or what you would even imagine an iceberg to actually look like.

A quick jaunt to the village after this walk, gave us something to do for an hour before it was time to illegally make dinner –whoopsie we shouldn’t have used the gas hob in the national park but we had to eat, so we slyly used it and quickly got back in the van as not only had it started raining it was also bloody freezing tonight is not going to be a comfortable one.

On the upside though I did finally get Rhi to start watching Lord of the Rings – I mean can you believe she hadn’t seen it? So I have to say thank you to Nina a girl that is staying at Deco who let me borrow her hard drive to download a whole heap of stuff onto my laptop – one of which was the extended editions of LOTR! Yay.
