Where I stayed
Sanawai Resort

So what is there to say about Sanawai? Well after traipsing across the island barefoot - I still can't wear shoes the first people we saw were Neil and Steve yet again, but I wasn't surprised by that.

What I was surprised about though was how very basic the resort was - it was just a bunch of tin sheds set around some grassy area.

There was nothing to do but sit on the beach and play cards - so thats what we did - everyone in the resort - all 8 of us - it was rubbish!!!

My foot really hurt today too - after a dinner of sausages and Taro - urgh yet again we all headed to our shed - which we found out was not wind proof - as all the windows had broken panes of glass in them, it was a combination of the wind and Neils snoring that kept me awake for half of the night, then for the rest of the night - the rain bouncing off our tin roof kept me up - it sounded relentless - and indeed when we all got up it was throwing it down... definatley not a beach day - it was more of a lets all stay inside day... it was truely awful.

So bad in fact that when the boys left to go and get the Yassawa Flyer like they do every other day - the waves were so high that they couldn't get to the boat and they had to come back - they said they almost died - which I'm not sure I totally believe but it must have been bad as they were drenched when they got back.

We spent the night in the little bar area wondering if we were going to have to be evacuated the next day - the locals were talking about it being a cyclone - gee thats pretty bad. There was even talk of moving everyone from the dorm into the empty Bure - but that would've meant all 6 of us would be in a tiny room and it would've happened in the middle of the night - which wouldn't have been nice at all.

Luckily though it didn't happen and by the time we got up in the morning the wind had totally died down - although there was a lot of damage to the trees and the 'resort' looked a bit of a mess.

Thankfully though we were all able to leave today and so we headed off North on the flyer towards Nanuya Lailai, I stubbed my bad toe getting into the boat though and stood on some coral and cut my foot which isn't a good thing, but the boys came with us and were glad to be on the move again, although as soon as we were on the flyer they got slightly pissed off as the flyer said that it was the decision of the island for them not to leave yesterday they could have infact made it - but the resort wouldn't take them out to where the boat was waiting - in calmer waters - the boys made a complaint against Sanawai obviously - I can't believe they did that. I mean Sanawai not the boys as I would have made a complaint too...

Another place in Fiji I wouldn't go back to - it probably wouldn't have been half as bad if there wasn't a  tropical storm though!
