But it did mean that the next day, which was a Saturday, when we went to wander around town everything was closed! So we spent the rest of the day relaxing in the hostel before going out for a rediculously cheap dinner, bbq chicken etc and bottle of wine for 3 pounds! After that we went into town with 3 irish lates from the hostel and managed to make the most of the very cheap beer.
So felt a bit ropey on Sunday morning when I had to get up go and catch the boat back to BA.
Arrived in Uruguay and after a bit of initially confusion with the exchange rate, (we thought it was 13 pesos to a pound so got a bit of a shock when they said the hostel would be 250 a night! Its actually 50 pesos to a pound) we went to get some money out and wonder around town and immediately bumped into Rnglish Sally from Florianapolis. She was there for the day as she was staying in a different town a few hours away, so we went for a drink and a bite to eat with her and we were amazed at how cheap it was. For a giant sandwich and half a bottle of wine I paid 1.20 pounds. We also noticed that there was a lot of anti-bush posters around. So we asked about it and found out that it was because he was coming into town that night! So after the drink we went down the road and watched a massive protest. It was really interesting, although the next day all the papers said there had been a lot of riots and fire bombs and stuff, but we didinr see any of that.
