I have now been living in Compound D of the King Faisal Hosital for one week and one day! Hardly counting am I??? Its been an interesting week, and I am learning constantly...what can I do...what can't I do..what line should I stand in..what room can I go in...should I sit in the front seat or the back seat..should I smile...should I make eye contact...can I speak to males...should I cover my hair...it goes on and on and on! I have never had to think so much in my life. At the same time though, its easy to figure out what to do! If it says female only line...stand in it!!! Smile when smiled at!!! Speak when spoken to!!! Do not shake hands unless a hand is offered to you...some people don't like to touch : ( hmmm...what else...oh yes there are ways around everything! Discretion is a must, but thank goodness there are a lot of embassies that provide for the oh so important needs of the western people...no dry mouths around here! They do things differently around here, that is for certain...is it bad...I wouldn't say that...is it great...I've got two years to figure that one out!

My turn to celebrate my first week. Strange feeling even if knew what could be the Saudi way of life. No judgment but adjustment is going to be challenging. Golf and Yoga still can be practiced, so I am safe ... at least for another couple of weeks.
