Where I stayed
Hotel Ekin, Diyarbakir
The evening is boiling, so it's off to a live kurdish music club call the Visa Club - great fun with fireworks to celebrate 2 birthdays. We have decided to give some of the money we raise for bowel cancer from our forthcoming climb up Mt Ararat, to a named Eastern Turkey family where the husband has cancer and is unable to work, Sabahattin to find out who and he will give the money, the rest to go to bowel cancer awareness here in the UK. We had some CD's burnt in a local shop and bought Dance of Anatolyia for Sylvia (our tour companion from Australia).
Fascinating city with vibrant colours from head scarves and ladies clothes. Great bazaars and a really lovely Han where we milled away a few hours people watching and drinking very cold fizzy water and cokes.
funny life sometimes...... there we are driving along when a motorbike with a Welsh flag on the side draws up, Nick asks "you from Wales" "Swansea" "Me from LLanrhidian" - small world isn't it?
