Hello from Vegas!

We arrived safely on Tuesday 23rd February at the Imperial Palace which is right in the middle of the Strip. We stayed here for the first 5 nights. The room felt like luxury as we had our own bathroom and massive bed. We headed straight out to see the strip at night - we were blown away by the lights and fountains at the Bellagio!

Over the week we visited most of the casinos, including "Paris" where we went up the Eiffel tower one night - saw a proposal (not at all cheesy) and saw the great views of Vegas at night! "The Bellagio" - luxurious hotel where we saw an amazing fountain/light show and had excellent cocktails at the Fontana bar. "The Venetian" has gondala rides running throughout the hotel... and nice happy hour margeritas :) "MGM Grand" has a lion sanctuary and we ate at the rainforest cafe. "The mirage" was like Avatar with the chinese new year decorations and a volcano erupts outside hourly!

On the Friday we took a trip to the Grand Canyon - which is undescribable! It is vast and overwelming - definatly worth the ten hour round trip to see! On the way we also saw the hoover dam and met a really nice couple from Norway and Sweden at lunch.

Las Vegas translated is "the meadows" FACT :)

Had a great week in Vegas but we couldnt believe our luck when we got to Caesars - we were checked in at the VIP lounge where they upgraded us to a 'petite suite'!.. good times haha the room was 700 square feet with lounge area, twin showers, 2 bathrooms, hot tub and mini bar! That night we hit the casino - I (sally) won my millions ($20) and Sacha lost his ($40)... Friends: we are coming here on a group trip - you will love it!

The next night we stayed at the Golden Nugget (one for you there Steve) where we were upgraded to another suite! This one had its own seperate lounge and bedroom with a sauna and bar - Crazyness! We couldnt believe our luck (we had complained about our bathroom door not opening) we know all the tricks now.

On the last night I (Sach) won my money back in a last minute bet on roulette ($60) happy days - next time I will break the bank!

We absolutly loved Vegas - had a better time than we could have hoped for - definatly not as tacky as we thought it would be! but dont worry Stacey we got you a nice tacky vegas souvenir as requested!

We are currently in Bakersfield (chilling) and we are off to Merced tomorrow (March 4th) stayin with Jan and Larry at their home hostel... should be interesting, before our 2 day stay in Yosemite.

As always - we hope you're all keeping well and keep us up to date on your news as we love to hear from you all!

.....Oh and Elvis IS still in the building - sporting some glitzy heels - we got stuck behind him on the escalator!

Hot tubs and gambling. Don't know you're borne. When I was your age I worked a 25 hour day and swept the chimney every morning before I got up!

Oh al right , perhaps I'm exagerating but only a little bit.

You're going to love Yosemite.

Keep building those memories.

Love you lots

Hi Sally and Sach. Love hearing about your trip. The west has some really beautiful places, plus the sublime to the ridiculous with Las Vegas. However its all there to be enjoyed, so do everything. Have a wonderful time and keep the blog coming. We can read it in Norfolk and pretend we are out west. It can certainly get chilly in those national parks!
