I got back from my last vacation Monday. Here's what's been going on since then :)

Tuesday in Controls lecture, Henrik and his student organization (I forget what they do exactly) took 15 minutes of the time and we made paper airplanes for them for an experiment. Too much fun to be Controls lecture!

That night, Libby, Holly and I, along with two other people from Schunter, Sylvi (SENSE) and Ben (American studying at TUB) went to Henrik's apt and hung out with a bunch of his friends including Tina and Anton. After a while, Holly, Sylvi and I went back to Schunter and a bunch of them went to the Joker (a popular club in Braunschweig).

Wednesday, I hung out with Nancy, freshly returned from England, and her boyfriend Simon (he's German). That night, I baked pastries! I found shells at the grocery that I could eat and filled them with strawberry jam. So much yum!

Thursday was Sommerfest! It's (supposedly) the biggest party of the year at TUB. Idk how big it was exactly, but I saw pretty much everyone I knew there at one point or another. It was a lot of fun, most of the SENSE kids went, with Holly and Libby. Warren came too and I saw Alex, Henrik and Vivian (she's in my Controls class) there too. Basically a fair amount of drinking, music and friends :)

Friday I hung out with Chenxi. We met around 3:00 and went to IKEA to buy some stuff for her room. She's only in her first year out of three living in Germany and wanted to make it more homey. We got her a teapot so she can brew more than one cup of tea at a time. We got cups and bowls so when people come visit her she can feed them. And we got wall decals to make her room pretty. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home and bought snap beans and turkey. I made up a marinade and we put up her wall decals, then I cooked up the turkey and beans while she made rice. It was a good combination. Afterwards, we put sticky notes on all of her furniture with the German and English words for the furniture (to help her study for her exam and because it was fun).

After that the fun kinda stopped until the next Thursday. I studied a lot and didn't go out. But Thursday, Blake came to visit! I picked him up from the train station and we took the bus back to my apartment. We dropped off his things and got a snack, then headed out to Monkey Island, a student bar in town to meet Holly, Libby and some of the SENSE students. We hung out there for a while, had a Weissbier (wheat beer), then went on a doener run downtown before the last bus at midnight.

Friday morning I had class and Blake slept in. I got back around 1:30 and Nancy and Blake met me at the bus stop. We went to the American restaurant for lunch, Play Off, which turned out to be overpriced and not enough food. We got ice cream afterwards and got Blake fitted properly for his birthday present: Birkenstock sandals :) We also had a look around Braunschweig's cathedral before heading home. For dinner Friday I made a pasta with my vegan cream sauce, although Blake didn't like it much. The rest of the day was studying on my end, blogging and reading on Blake's.

Saturday, we had pizza with Warren and Henrik. I had the "Pizza of the Month" and it was very weird: mango, bacon and curry sauce. Not having that again. We stopped at a pharmacy for Blake (German pharmacies are way cheaper than Danish pharmacies) and went home for more studying and chilling. For dinner we made brats in beer with roasted potatoes. Very yummy. We baked the last of my pastry shells with strawberry jam for dessert.

Sunday I had some leftovers for breakfast and we had a late lunch at a cafe about a 10 minute walk from my apartment. We each had a currywurst and a Wolters Pilsner (brewed right here in Braunschweig). We played a round of mini golf afterwards (though we had to cut it short), then went back and packed up Blake's things. We took the bus back to the train station and I saw him off back to Copenhagen (via Hannover).

When he gets there, he gets to pack up his study abroad life and move back home this Tuesday. It'll be weird being in such different time zones again! I'm glad I got to see him one more time, even if all we really did was eat and study/chill :)
