Arrived in London early Mon morning after an overnight flight from NYC. Got upgraded to business for no apparent reason, so were able to sleep a few hours in between the champagne and meals.
Picked up our nice little hire car and found the M25 to be a breeze after our recent experiences. Unfortunately it takes 45 pounds to fill the tank.
Rural Suffolk (where my sister and mother live) is rather different to downtown Manhattan, though the temperatures are actually very similar (though I don't expect that to last).
I've visited my mother a couple of times, found her much the same. She can hold an intelligent conversation but soon forgets it.
We'll stay at my sister's place a few days more then be based at my mother's house. We've got some travelling planned, mostly to see friends and family.
R has been busy helping my brother-in-law put together a Summer house, and that is now just about finished.
Are now near Norwich, staying with friends we first met at college a looong time ago. Nice when you find friends are always friends. We'll be on the move for the next 2 weeks or so, mainly visiting friends and family. I'll update this when I can

Dear Richard and Sally,

Have just caught up with your latest adventures after a gap of a few weeks.
US certainly seems to have been an adventure. Particularly liked the Washington ones. (Picture of aviation museum in Charles Lindbergh shot looked just like Te Papa). Interested also to hear your comments re World Trade Center. The one thing I remember about the towers was how massive they were as I walked up to them. Amazing that anything could have brought them down.
Intrigued also to see Richards T shirt promoting safe use of guns. Obviously all that time in deep south beginning to rub off.
News here-Barb now working about 8 hours a week at Doctors surgery doing patient recalls. School holidays just finishing so house a mess. I was ill for about three weeks with various colds and flu. To assist recovery I gave up alcohol so Ruth and Barb without drinking partner for now.
You would have arrived in England shortly after they got eliminated from the World Cup so just in time for mourning and recrimination.
Anyway keep posting the photos.

Wow....What a Trip of a Lifetime!
Hi Sally and Rich,

Have finally come back to Travelpod to check on your travels and how it's been going for you. My mind spins at the incredible experience(s) you've had. You made many friends in the US I'm sure...and then to get to the UK and visit will all the family and friends. AND THEN off to Rome, Singapore and Perth. You're either going to collapse when you get back to NZ....or be positively bored by staying still!

Warmest Regards, Vicki in Ridgecrest
