I forced Paul to go to a jazz club in the city. We needed a bit of city life after all the wet and wild stuff. The accommodation is so expensive here that we ended up paying 12 dollars each for a dorm bed. Paul got to sleep with 11 girls, but thatīs not the point. Anyway, he was regretting it when 2 of the ignorant cows kept us all awake and that is why we canīt deal with dorms anymore. I think we are getting old.

Jazz club ended up playing a Samba band from Brazil.  The lead singer pulled his face into all sorts of strange positions and I hate that tune, The Girl from Ipanema, but it was certainly spiced up when a girl that was sitting in front of us went to the toilet and came back dressed in a full carnival outfit, killer heels, glittery paint, headdress and little else and started wiggling her bits about. Paul perked up no end. When the capoeira troupe started it all got a bit surreal.

Not a lot else going on in the city. Although, for latin american capitals it wasnīt too bad. At least we didnįt feel like we were going to be killed at any moment. We took the opportunity to get some stuff for a big trek thatīs coming up...8 hours walk each way...20 km...in the jungle. And thatīs why I made Paul go to a jazz club.
