Once Lethantia was ready for the ball, she was back in the water and we began our trip to cruise along the New England coastline. We met the owner in Boston & sailed from there to Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket before venturing to Maine. Now, I'm sure Maine is a great place, but all I saw of the coastline that first trip was fog, lobster pots, fishing boats, vague outlines of coast and more fog. We had to have someone on watch on the bow, a radar operator and someone on the helm most of the time due to the fog. Your eyes can start to play tricks on you after hours on watch. They've got nothing to focus on, so you start seeing ghostly images and pirate ships.

On the second trip with the other owner, the fog cleared and we got to see the Maine coastline. It's got lots of fishing towns scattered between a craggy coastline, which is over-run with lobster pots bobbing on the water surface. These buoys are connected to a trap on the sea-bed near the coast to catch lobsters but nobody pays much attention to leaving a channel clear to pass through them. It looked like smarties bobbing all over the coastline & we pulled some tight s-turns to try avoid them. Once in a while we missed the turn and got a lobster pot line wrapped around the propeller. This was my cue to grab the bread-knife and jump over the side to cut it off - Maine water is pretty cold, even in summer!
