Wow what a game! I don't know how else to describe it. Let's just say it had you hanging on the edge of your seat every second of every inning, especially the last few!
The game started off with Kassie on the mound. She pitched well until the 3rd inning, when she began to struggle. She was able to get an out without to much trouble, but then she needed some relief. Megan Spellman was called apon for the job. Megan pitched the reminder of the innings getting out of many jams in order to come away with the victory. She also had much help from the offense as the team scored 11 runs and she needed every one of them.
Waterford jumped ahead in the second inning 3 to 0 as the pitcher for Canada loaded the bases on 3 straight walks to Megan, Christine, and Kelsey with no outs. Kate, pinch running for Megan, and Christine both scored on pass balls during the inning. Alyssa then hit in Kelsey with a 2 out double to score the 3rd run.
Canada then started to cut the lead and then snatched the lead away from Waterford as they scored 1 run in the 3rd, 4 in the 4th, and 5 in the 5th. Our girls answered back in the bottom of the 5th with 6 runs on a huge rally, where Waterford batted through the order, and cut the lead to 1 run.  The inning started off with back to back walks by the pitcher from Canada to Christine and Kate. Then there were back to back singles by Emily and Jaime. Jaime's single scored Christine for the first run of the inning and left the bases loaded with no outs for Alyssa. Alyssa then smacked a double that scored Kate and Emily. One batter later, Kelli came up with one out and Alyssa and Jaime still on base, she ripped one over the fence for her first out of the park home-run during a game. The inning ended with no more runs scored, leaving Waterford 1 run short of Canada.
Waterford held Canada scoreless in the 6th while they were able to scrape out one run to tie the game and force extra innings. The 6th inning started with Kate on first from a no out walk. Emily then moved her along with a ground out to the 3rd baseman. Kate then stole 3rd. The next batter, Jaime, laid down an awesome sacrifice bunt to score Kate, the tying run, from third.
In the 7th Canada was once again held scoreless by Megan and her defense. Waterford then came up to try to score one run, and as they were the home team, walk away with the win. The rally for the one run started when Kassie got on base when the 2nd baseman miss played a pop-fly. Talia was then put in to run for Kassie. Talia proceeded to steal 2nd base. Later in the 7th, Christine came up with 2 outs and Talia still on 2nd. She hit a walk off single which scored Talia to conclude Waterford's amazing come back.
I am sure that there have been bigger come backs in previous World Series, but tonight, there didn't't seem like there could possibly have ever been a more exciting come back than this one. It sure was one exciting game. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WATERFORD!!!!!
