We get back to Rafter's retreat from Adam's Peak around 2 pm and there's been a change of plans. Long story short, Prom and me decided to break out on our own and leave for Kandy instead of Dambulla and re-work our program from there.

A series of mind-numbing bus journeys (Kitulgala - Avanisella - Mawanella - Kandy) later, we reach Kandy around 9pm.

Knock (literally) on the doors of a Burmese Rest house. This place run by a sweet little monk - is open only to foreign nationals and the prices are dirt cheap - 300 Sri Lankan rupees per night for the two of us!!. Rooms are most basic to say the least - but at that time all we could see was the two clean beds. We headed out for a quick bite someplace nearby after a shower( the rest house has a curfew of 10pm! Yikes) and came back to pass out. Complete and pure exhaustion had set in.
