Wake up around 10.30 am. The physical pain and the aches had set in, but the body has had it much needed rest. Grabbed a quick breakfast and headed out to the Train and Bus stations to figure out our next step. Bought a map of the Island and we started to make plans. The main thought was to take it easy today - I wish we didn't have to waste a day but I guess I realized that if we didn't go easy, the rest of the holiday would be a mess.

So we spent the day in Kandy - someone recommended a place called Hotel Suisse for lunch (near Kandy lake), which is a lovely colonial hotel on a hilltop with great views. They also have nice rooms if one wants to stay there.

After fortifying ourselves with a couple of beers and a superb lunch, we checked out the Dalada Maligawa Museum. This is also known as "The Temple of Sacred Tooth relic" and holds the famed "tooth relic" of Buddha (apart from other relics). Great place. One of the must see's in Kandy. We unfortunately did not get to see the tooth relic as that part of the temple is open only early mornings ( Get there before or by 6.30 am if you want to see that). But the rest of the museum was great as well.

Spend the rest of the day walking around in Kandy - it's a quaint little town with not much to offer other than the museum and Spice Gardens, but given that we just wanted to unwind, it was good for us.

The plan for tomorrow is to check out the Pinnawaela Elephant orphanage in the morning and then head to Sigiriya the Rock Fort city.
