Well, once again we have dug our way back to China. More specifically we are in Zhuhai China for ten days to reintegrate back into the Chinese way of life and reuniting with our old friends.
As luck would have it I was invited to stay with a local Chinese teacher's family for the time we were staying in Zhuhai, China. They welcomed me into their home and it became their goal to throw as much Chinese at me as possible. I was immersed so much so that one morning the daughter informed me that I had spoken mandarin in my sleep.
Throughout my days here I experienced a senior’s Care Home, where there were people who were one hundred and four years old. It amazed me how sympathetic the outsiders were to the seniors because these seniors did not have children to look after them. The children came, sang songs and clipped the senior’s nails while having nice conversations.
After this intensive adventure I feel like we never left. And as for my mandarin it is a long and slow process but seems to be possible. :)
And now we are getting ready for an intense 40 hour train ride out west to Chengdu, China, home of the panda.
