So much for regular updates!!

The problem is that the longer I have left this, the harder it has been to write - Obviously I am still very much alive... and life is pretty incredible right now.

I have no idea where to start with this - there were so many memories I wanted to write up on here so that when I am old and boring (in approximately 3 years) I would be able to remember this awesome experience. I guess I'll just have to rely on facebook photos now haha!

The job has stayed pretty much the same - I still can't believe that I get paid to dig holes on the beach and go to the waterpark... I love the feeling of waking up on a Friday knowing that I am going to spend most of the day on the beach, or the feeling on a Sunday morning when I remember that I am going to spend the day going down waterslides! Officially the best job in the world, especially when you have amazing friends to work with - Debs, I am SO SO chuffed that we are working together this week... just when I thought my season couldn't get any better, it did!

I have been so incredibly lucky - last time I updated I was about to move upstairs and in with the new nannies... my 'new' roomie, Sarah 'Afrikaan Bongo' is AMAZING. Such a truly incredible, wonderful friend! And she even makes me breakfast in the morning :D   I feel so, so privileged to have spent so much time in her company - I have learned so much from you Sarah, thank you for making my season so unbelievably great. We work, live, party and even sleep in the same bed together (haha) but you have yet to cause me even one minute of bleakness! Love you forever treasure!

And then there is Sarah's man, Guigui - he is totally fantastic. I can't remember if I wrote this up before but way back in July, my roomies and I recognised a group of guys in the supermarket from the Zoo Marine adventure park that we take our kids to each week. We got chatting, swapped numbers and have ended up really good friends... Sarah and I in particular have become great friends with Gui and Miguel... and now Sarah and Gui are an item :) (and sickeningly adorable together.)

Gui is French and Miguel is Portuguese so my language abilities have improved a lot!! I have discovered that I have the amazing capability to pretty much read and write French fluently when drunk...!!! And I'm pretty good sober too...

The whole speaking side of things seems good too, although I do have to think about my tenses a lot! Oh and for those of you who know how appalling my accents are... well, times have a-changed!  I can do a mean French accent ha ha. (Thank you Gui for humouring me when I repeat everything you say to practise the accent... but don't forget, "Je vais te tuer...avec un plateau" hahahaha.)

On the Portuguese side of things, I have learned most of the language from taxi rides home after a night out! Taxi drivers are very helpful!!! And clearly these quick lessons are paying off - the other night in the cab ride home the cabbie asked me "So how come you speak Portuguese? You don't look local...."

Talking of which, every night I go out I am bombarded by dutch people! The blonde hair paired with a tight grasp on a bottle of Heineken at all times clearly gives the impression that I am "...uit Nederland, ja!..."

So yes, I am still living the dream (viver o sonho) ....

I have been offered a winter season and have said an enormous YES PLEASE!! However, I don't know where I will be placed yet.

To those of you who have asked a million times when I will grace the Island with my presence again... I don't know exactly!

I am out here now until the end of September and rumour has it that I will then be driving one of the buses back to the UK... however, that may now be via St. Anton (Austria), Val d'isere (France) and Zermatt (Switzerland) as there are jobs to be done in preparation for the ski season there.

Either way, my adventure is still going on...

As much as I am dying to see everyone back home, I am dreading returning to the UK. After pretty much uninterrupted sun and heat for the past 3 months, I have reached the point of referring to a day like to day, with the midday temperature of 32.C, as cool!

I love the fact that out here you are constantly busy... coming back to the UK is going to be a massive shock the the system. Tonight is the first night in weeks that I have had any alone time... Sarah and I even chat whilst we shower (and pass beers through the shower curtain lol!!) and I am already bored of my own company!

Well that is the most I can think of to write now - sorry for the lack of exciting details. There are some cracking stories I want to tell a lot of you, but not all of them are parent friendly hahaha! (Joking mum, you've heard most of them by now)

I love you all back home very much, I haven't forgotten that you all exist!

Sam - tell Wonka his oompa loompa will be back sometime in October.

Ciao ciao xxxx
