23.1.11

Hi

We decided to do some more snorkelling today, we went first before lunch. The guy at the dive shack had told us to swim out until the edge of the rocks as that was where the reef was. We did this but couldn't see much coral there were loads of fish but the bottom of the sea was mostly covered in just brown rocks and brown coral with some rarely dotted around pink coral after a while it was time for lunch so we got out. Lunch was brilliant we got a huge plate of food and for the first time in ages were actually full! We then went back to the beach to try and search for the reef again. The tide had gone out a bit further now so we could swim out further without it being too deep which was good! This time we managed to find the reef it was really pretty, first we saw some clown fish who were swimming around then quickly hiding in their sea anemone when we swum past. We also saw some more giant clams but not quite as big as the ones at coral view and some huge coral! After a while Chris spotted a funny looking fish which had really weird fins. First I thought it was a weird squid then we realised it was two cuttle fish. First of all they were brown like the coral as they were swimming then I went a bit closer to get a better look and they started to turn blue like the sea and swim towards us they came really really close it was amazing they were so cool they then looked at us for a bit then swam off into the ocean out of sight wow! We didn’t expect to see them today! We also saw lots of angel fish and parrot fish as well as the evil trigger fish the same as the one which attacked my legs and the camera at coral view. We really enjoyed snorkelling until we got stuck in the sea. As the tide had gone so far out when we got back to the shallow water we couldn’t swim anymore and there was just loads of coral and rocks and no sand so we had to clamber across all the really sharp rocks to get back to the beach which cut our poor feet! We then had lots of tea and are now waiting for dinner. Tomorrow we are going to Bounty Island!
