I spent a great summer with family and friends in Arkansas and Atlanta. Endless interviews had me jumping on and off planes again until I finally accepted a position back in Atlanta. Unemployment officially ends on Monday promptly at 7:45AM. The past week has been particularly busy as I have relocated (my body...rather than my belongings) to Atlanta, purchased a car and gone under contract on a condo. I've done all I can to smooth the transition back to "real" life next week.
Real life. The thought of it brings back so many fantastic memories from the road.
Locals. Travelers. History. Architecture. Experience. Wonder.
I'm unsure how to describe my feelings...my current state of mind. I can only say that I feel immensely grateful to have been able to make such a journey. And despite appearances, it didn't happen alone. For the most part, the people of the world are courageous and giving. They were there to point the way and to share their country, their beliefs, themselves. In fourteen months I must have met thousands of individuals for an hour or less. These are the people for whom I traveled and who made my travels successful. These were the short moments that collectively made the difference for me.
If I could send out a "thank you" to the world I would direct it to all these individuals. You are the ones who give without thinking and who make this planet such a small and wonderous place. So...for all of you: tesekkür ederim, shukran, efharisto, blagodarya, multumesc, köszi, dzieki, dik, danke, khwap khun, ar kun, cám ón, xie xie, tujechhe, dhanyabaad, terima kasih, gracias....THANK YOU!
