From Brasov, six travellers were headed out on the same train north towards Bucharest. We dutifully rose at 6:30AM to make it to the train station on time. Three of us would jump off a few hours later while the rest would head straight to Budapest.

Sighisoara was going to be a bit more of the same, but many had commented that the old village is a bit more authentic and it was worth a night. As I really don't have a schedule, per se, I thought I'd find out for myself.

We arrived in Sig to chaos. None of us knew that we were arriving on the first day of the city's annual medieval festival. Thousands and thousands of people and vendor stalls and performances - ugh! Above all else, the hostel we had all pre-booked (I think this was my first time booking accommodation before arriving in a city) had "lost" our reservations and had no room for us. We found other beds and my two travel partners decided to take them (at twice the original cost). I decided to bag it, so I returned to the train station, checked my large bag and bought a ticket to Budapest for the overnight train.

The festival was...OK. Every 12-15 year old in Romania was present and most were wearing their Lord of the Ring rings. I'm sure it would have been better if I was in the mood. I ended up sharing a table with 5 local guys in one of the cafes. One of them had an extra arm band that meant free beers for me all afternoon! I boarded the 10PM train relatively sober for my trip to Hungary.
