I finally arrived on the 23rd for my cous' wedding.
The revamped Indira Gandhi Airport was impressive and easy to get around. From the airport we entered the obstacle course they call roads here in India to get my aunt's place. Silly me decided to put on a seat belt only to find the buckle for the seat belts missing - that's right they are only for show in the back seats!! But luckily I only felt the need for one merely a dozen times =)
Once we were home we were greeted with the typical Indian but especially my aunt's warm hospitality. Warm tea and food was served into my plate as required and chapatis made fresh so that I didn't have to stop eating at any point! I could so get used to this!!!! =D
For the wedding week they had cooks/caterers living on the premises itself making food and masala chai on request =) As expected, I am now addicted to masala chai and I have already had a few stomach upsets!!
It was great catching up with the extended family and meeting new members too! I have attached some photos from the last two weeks.
The thing hardest to get used to is the noise pollution - I think I am going to come back deaf. Mobile ring tones are full volume, music at weddings, construction machinery everywhere, horns blaring throughout the nite as well, and as a result ppl talking at full volumes too regardless of how far/close you are!! But it wouldn't be india without it.
I am off on my tour soon - I am excited and anxious- after seeing the traffic in the last few days
let's see if i survive 24 days on the road!! =D
Hope to make some more entries soon!
