Today was a rough day for the riders. We got back into some serious climbs out of Pittsburgh and into Somerset and it was a little unexpected. It didn't help that today was humid either or that it rained for a bit earlier this morning. We sagged out about 10 miles this morning to avoid the Pittsburgh early morning traffic and then Amber and I doubled back to pick up the bags. We got to the hotel in Somerset (a lame change compared to the hotel last night) and were able to get bags in rooms early. We had a short lunch at Ruby Tuesday's and then headed back to meet up with the ride. We helped shuttle them through a small bit of construction that was causing some traffic jams and then headed back to the hotel. The local agent had set up a nice dinner in the parking lot which I unfortunately ended up missing because less than a mile away, one of the riders, Marc, got hit by a car. He is okay but we did have to take him to the hospital to get cleaned up. He was more concerned for his bike's well being than his own though, honestly. We got back a few hours later after multiple trips to the hotel and back to find various IDs. Later we went out to get ice cream at Bruster's (everyone though it was a local place, I was amused) and now I am about to head off to bed. We have an hour later start tomorrow to make sure that we don't miss the opening of the Flight 93 Memorial for the riders.
