When I woke up this morning I still felt pretty terrible, but I knew I needed to push through it. We loaded all the bags in the van, had a quick breakfast and then made a run to WalMart for some Sudafed. After that we drove down HWY 50 to Austin and checked in to the two different hotels (Cozy Mountain and Pony Canyon).
We then doubled back to help out the riders and ride the route back and forth to make sure they were okay. We some how managed to miss the Shoe Tree on the way there the first time but we saw it the second time. The Shoe Tree is just this random tree on HWY 50 that people threw tons of sneakers around and in the branches. Jeremy then dropped me off at the hotel to make sure that I would be back in time when the riders arrived. That was when it really hit me just how terrible I have been feeling. I went out for a milkshake with Chad and Mike, two of the other riders, and while I was out I started shivering and had a fever. I came back and essentially laid in my suitcase pile on the bed and waited for people to arrive and pick up their luggage.
This town is pretty cute in a historic way but I couldn't handle living here. The hotel is essentially a bunch of double wide trailers converted into rooms, but it does have satellite internet. We also had dinner at the International Bar and Cafe which looks exactly like a wild west saloon. It is an extremely small town and cell reception sucks so I will be incommunicado for a while.
