Where I stayed
Today has been an excellent day. It began with the bikers dipping their wheels into the Pacific Ocean to show the symbolic nature of the coast to coast rides. It was rushed a little bit since it was absolutely freezing down by the beach, but the view of the Golden Gate was amazing. Afterwards, we headed over to the Sports Basement for lunch and some last minute shopping. I talked to one of the riders there for a while and he told me about how he lost his leg. He actually lost his leg to cancer, which may possibly be from his exposure to the hazordous chemicals/materials over in Iraq. It feels strange to say it, but I keep forgetting that he is actually a wounded vetran just because he stays so positive. A lot of the riders are really positive which makes me feel a little bad for every time I think how tired I am or how much I would love to rest for a bit. Their energy is really what is keeping me going.
We had a few meetings later and some office stuff and then we headed over to dinner at the Officer's Club. Halfway into the cocktail hour, Robin Williams showed up! I was completely blown away. He was really awesome and is going to be joining us for part of the ride tomorrow! I'm debating if I should wear my jester shoes. I feel like he would appreciate them.
