Awake at 5.30am to be ready for our 6 o'clock pick up. Took a kewl bright orange Bemo down the road to where we went and swam with the whalesharks. We paid 1000P each and another 50P each for fins, which we were recommended. We went out 4 tourists to a boat on a skinny long boat. No motors either, the guys just paddle. Didn't have to go out far as the Fish were only out 20 meters or so. We were in the water about half and hour before we had had enough. The whole experience was just okay. It was nice to see the Whale sharks but they are only small, 5 meters or so. There are lots of local guys out there sitting in the small boats just feeding the Fish constantly. It was a shame we didn't get to see them swimming around much so the experience was a bit fake and really just a big money making scheme. Lucky we did it really early because as we finished so many other tourists turned up, boats everywhere!
We had a great time chatting with Luke and Emma though. It was really nice to see them and hang out briefly. We had breakfast together then we both went our separate ways. They caught a bus back to Cebu and we took the short bus ride down to the Port. From here we caught the ferry over to Dumaguete. Only 20 minutes or so, then got a local Bemo to the city and found some accommodation that Luke and Emma had recommended us. Harold's Mansion 800P.
We were happy to take a Air con room as it was stinking hot, over 38 degrees.
Had a walk around for the arvo and posted a birthday card to Brenda. Later we went to the tourist information center and then got lunch at McDonalds. :)
Had a nice chat up with the Percy/Attwood family on FaceTime in the lobby. Then back to the room to chill out and watch T.V.
