Day 8

Woke up to the sound of Swedish hens at 5am.  I gave them a firm knock on the wall and they didn't peep again.  Walked around the city trying to find a tent but to no avail.  Did, however, see the Balkans largest church.  Hoped a ferry for Sami on Kefallonia.  Had to go to the clinic for a rash, and a shot in an unpleasant area.  Walked around the town and decided to rent a moped.  Had to prove myself to the man that I could ride, and won.  Bought this ghetto tent for $45, borrowed a hammer from the Germans next door and setup the tent.  Had dinner on the beach.  Amazing day all around.

Quote of the day: 1. What cheek do you want it in? Dr at the clinic
   2. "Das Hammer est gut, Ja?" German man next door

Cities: Patras, Sami

Day 9

Did I mention the campsite is full of Germans, I mean every person here?  They are all very nice and talkative.  I am not afraid to ask them for things like hammers and then they say no like in the States.  The night was long sleeping on rocks, scooters, owls, the works.  We awoke and had a very confusing breakfast where we ordered toast and got tea instead.  I had a long conversation with an old Greek man about what a bottle of water is.  From there I failed my ATV exam, and had to take a scooter instead, which was worth it.  We went all over the island.  We went to this huge cave Drogarti(?) and on to a cave lake a little down the road.  That was gorgeous.  The water was every shade of blue.  You could see the bottom at 90 feet.  Took a boat ride through the lake cave.  Water come from the other side of the island underground.  From there scootered across the island to the capital.  Had lunch, saw a lighthouse, came back.  Had to journey up this huge mountain where we found a winery and stopped.  Again up this 5000+ mountain and to the beach.  Antisamos is gorgeous.  White peeble beach with turquoise water.  Scooter died while coasting down.  Forgot to mention scooter had starting problems, no working odometer, speedometer, or gas gauge.   Lots of fun.  Drove up another coast for a while and saw some beaches before returning back to Sami.  Got some bread and cheese, had a horrible dinner and interacted with our German neighbour kids.  All in all fantastic day.

Quote of the day: "From Sami, on a scooter, over the mountain, oh no, not me." Tourist information lady in the capital

Places visited: Kefallonia
