So this trip is a little different. No longer am I in a car, nor with my brother, nor even in the US. This trip consists of my girlfriend and I backpacking for 6 weeks throughout Europe. Surprisingly, this trip is rather planned out, surely not by my doing. It has been months in planning and as I write it is in action. I am in bed in Athens writing this. We started at 5:30am from Boston and flew to London. We were there about an hour. From there onwards to Athens and got in at 2:45am. Took a long bus ride into the city and got into the centre about 4, and got a hotel. Woke up late and decided to walk some of the city. It was hot and hilly. Went up Mount Likavitos for the view. Decided Athens really isn't that pretty. We walked down to the National Garden. Really no flora there. Ate some good food along the way. I enjoyed it. Tonight we found out that we are staying in the heroin district
Cities and Countries visited: Boston, USA
The night was long. Hookers yelling, TV blaring, lots of noise. After a sufficient lack of sleep we moved to our new hostel. Seems nicer. Staying with an Argentinan guy. We spent the day walking around Athens. Went to the Acropolis, the Plaka and Hadrian's Arc. Laid by the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, where I met a drunk homeless guy Peter. He was a character. Told me tales of America, and working in Boston, and other cities. Went to a meeting a little later, nice people. After that walked to the Plaka, where Jacky did a little shopping. Had some coffee and cake and came home.
Quote of the day: "Go down to Stuart Street and say hi to John. Tell him Peter from Greece says hello. He'll give you a free coffee. He's a nice guy." Peter the drunk guy at the Temple of Zeus
