The other thing that I heard about Budapest before arriving is that the nightlife is crazy and nonstop. After a little research, I found this to also be very true. We had heard that the place to be at night in Budapest is anywhere along the Danube, because anywhere you go you will find outdoor discos and bars. I love the outdoor club idea because it adds a whole new feel and atmosphere to going out
The following day we woke up a little on the late side and just walked around by foot to all the different parts of Budapest. Budapest used to be 3 different towns, Buda, Pest and another small town that have grown into one large metropolis so we visited Buda one side of the river and Pest on the other. Both were very impressive.
That night we had learned from a couple of the locals that their was a huge music party call "Budapest Parade" going on later that night. What it actually turned out being was a huge techno concert and one of the crazier things that I have ever seen. The "Parade" took place at the stadium in Budapest and had 10 or 12 tents all playing a different kind of techno. The first tent that we went into was as large as an airplane hanger and had no less than 20,000 people dancing inside of it. After that night, I can see why drugs are so prevalent at these concerts. People just sit their and dance for hours, only stopping to get the occasional water so that they don't die. I new that techno was huge over here but never this big. We stayed for a couple of hours just to experience it but after quickly realizing that it wasn't really our seen, left for another bar. It was fun just very strange to us. I don't realize how people, as young as 14 come to these concerts and love dancing to this music for 8 hours at a time. I guess that is why extacy is such a huge issue because the answer is that they can only due it when they are high in drugs. These kids cant be very healthy.
