So our first night it Macedonia was about as bad as I think it could have been, with preconvieved notions or not. I forgot to mention that within about 3 seconds (absolutely no exageration here) of getting off the train, we heard gunfire that sounded like it was coming from just a couple of blocks away. I will never forget the face that Tyler made right after hearing that. Well things have gotten conciderably better, so please don't have any worries. After our first night in the Macedonian capital of Skopje, we decided that we would go to a small resort town that one of our travel guides recommended, because it truthfully couldn't get much worse than that first night. When we first got off of the bus after our 5 hour ride, we were a little stunned and very disappointed because we were in the middle of nowhere and it was crap. Also, as soon as we got off, we ran into more incredibly pushy people that want us to stay in their houses and they are relentless, folowing you everywhere. After talking to one of the guys offering us a place to stay for the night, we discovered that the actual town was about 2km away. One thing that we have learned is that many people try to take advantage of us because they know that we have money so taxi's try to charge us 5 euros for a ride that should only be 1 euro or less. We have gotten fairly good and knowing when we are being had and not letting it happen.

So after talking to this guy for a bit, he got us a ride to his cousins place in the center of the old town and once we got their we were really surprised because it was really nice. Everywhere else here in Macedonia has been a little dirty and undeveloped but this town has a very cool feel to it. AND ITS CHEAP!!! We went out last night to a club, paid for dinner and my stay in a room for 40$. This place is awesome, being able to throw money around and it doesnt really hurt the bank account. Today we met a crazy guy that looks like a damn pirate(no shit either) and drives around a boat that looks like it belongs in the floating markets in Thailand and he drove us around to a couple of beaches around the lake. He was a good guy until he made Tyler pay for all his tab at a bar on top of what we agreed to pay him. It turned out ok though. It's only costing me about 5 euros a night for a matress on the floor but its quite nice and the guy is even doing our laundry for us while we are out and about during the day.

I have a ton of photos to post but for some reason its not letting upload them here.
