Yesterday we got to Bari, Italy. Its a mid sized port town that has ferries that go to Greece, which is the only reason that anybody comes here. We weren't able to catch the early train yesterday so we didn't get here until late so we missed last nights ferry. We met up with 4 other people that were trying to do the same exact thing, a guy and his sister from Sao Paulo, Brazil and 2 other people from New Zealand. We have been hanging out with the guy from Brazil and they are now coming with us to Patras tonight. We got up this morning and went to the ferry ticket office a half hour before it even opened to get tickets and Im glad that we did so because their were a ton of people with the same idea. Luckily, Eric and I are very good at getting to the front of lines with by conversation or physical force and we got tickets on the deck of a ferry for the 17 hour trek to Patras, Greece. After we get to Patras, it will be still another 3 or 4 hours by bus to get to Athens.

Just now on our way to the Internet, we found something that I had only heard about here in Italy but have not seen yet. They have these small shops that looks like that have Petro pumps inside, and they are pumps, but they pump wine. Not only is it surprisingly good wine, but only about 1 Euro for a liter. You can bring your own bottle or buy get one from them. So, for the long ferry tonight, Eric and I bought a 5 liter bottle of wine each, I just hope that its enough. Ill let you know later how that turns out.

Sometimes I cant believe how relaxed or unprepared some people that are backpacking are. The two girls from New Zeland need to get to Corfu tonight because they have reservations but and they didn't get up until about noon to get tickets (we don't know yet whether they got them or not but their chances are not good) and they didn't even bother calling their hostel about the reservations that they are not going to make (which means they will forfeit their money for the night). Well, Im sick of typing and want to get going, so Ill update more in a couple of days when we get to Ios and Tyler and Monte have arrived. Late.
