First off I must say that Italy has some of the most inefficient and worst run train systems that I have yet to see. We had tickets to Rome from La Spezia, which is a town just about 10 minutes away from Riomaggiore but in order for us to get to that train on time, it is paramount that our train to La Spezia is on time. This was not the case. Our train was supposed to leave La Spezia at 2:04 so we headed to our trains station at about 1:00 so that we could get their on time but it was late. And then even later. So we missed our train to Rome. This will just turn into a very long story so I will make it short. We were told to go from one counter and back a couple of times before we were told that we need to just get on a train without a reservation and basically hope that we don't get kicked off and that the train master is alright with us hitching a ride. This ended up working out alright in the end but it was still a huge pain in the ass. What should have been a 4 hour journey turned into about 7 or 8 and along with a lot of stress, was a long day.

The following day was one of the busiest days of the trip yet. My mother and I have seen a large majority of the entire city of Rome in one day, ON FOOT. We didn't use a single transportation device the entire day other than our feet, not even an elevator. We have seen the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, The Spanish steps and many other of the major historical and beautiful sights that Rome has to offer. I must say that my feet can definitely feel how much walking we have done today but I must say that it was worth it. I will have many photos to post once I find an Internet that is a little quicker than the one that I am using now, this is just a waste of my time.

catching up
Hey,
I am catching up to after you left Florence.
Bologna was the eating capital filled with Italian Restraunts I bet. You must have been in heaven I did put a new grip on your 1 iron so please be careful where you put it. A little walk for a group of finely tuned athletes should not be a big deal. Maybe the beer is slowing you down? I bet that guy laughed all the way home.
Nothing but a couple of pictures ffom Verona?
Venice and the magic bird man. No bird flu in Italy? I hope you can clean up your mothers eating habits before I arrive. Maybe that is why you are hitting the road to Greece. Nice picture.
It looks like you came into your own in Cinque Terra. A-1 cliff diver, Bagage handler and at night turns into a Drunken Brachiosaurus.
It sounds like you made the rounds in Rome. Are they going to fix that hole in the Pantheon? I saw o TV that they are running out of Holy Water because of the fighting in the middle east. They were able to get it from Israel at cost.
I am sad that I will miss you in Rome. have a great time in Greece and I will see you when you come back. Let me know a few days ahead and I'll get a TEE TIME.

I Love and miss you,
d
