Well we arrived in Tours yesterday after a 4 hour train ride from Lyon. We actually had to go all the way up to Paris and then back down but because it was a TGV high speed train it was actually faster than the direct shot from Lyon to Tours. Tours doesn't really have much to offer from the touristic perspective but it was close to our next destination, Blois. One thing that Tours does have is an excellent old town square where everybody goes after midday and by the late afternoon is just packed. We hung out at the town square and just watched people walk by for a couple of hours yesterday evening.

Today, we went back to the train station to sign up for a guided tour of some of the famous chateau that blanket this area. There were so many to choose from we had a difficult time making a final decision of which to see. We are going to see the most famous of them all, chateau Chambord and then afterwards, chateau Giverny. We weren't going to do the tour, but they said that they would drop us off afterwards in our next destination instead of coming all the way back and then catching a train, so we figured it was well worth the 30 dollars to not have to deal with the multiple train connections.

After spending tomorrow night in Blois, France, we will be heading down to the Barraitz on the French Atlantic coast which is supposedly a small town but very popular around the area for surfing. Who knows, I may have to give that a try. That night the US plays another world cup match, so I am sure we will be in some pub for a few hours that night, but lets hope the outcome is a little better for us. After a night in Barraitz, we will be crossing the border into Spain for 2 nights in San Sebastian and 2 nights in Bilbao. Then from there, we will travel down to Barcelona to meet Rachael and then to Madrid. Those are all of the reservations that we have at this point, but we will make more in a couple of days. Well that is all for now, nothing very exciting going on here in Tours, but don't get me wrong, I am having a great time here. I love the outdoor cafe atmosphere, I could spend all day here in the old town center. Take care, Love Ryan.

I think you are the one in the blue shirt. I also believe that Eric is on the right track with the pictures.
71* here with zero -nada 0 sun today. Wish I was there.

Son Douglas' birthday today and they are coming over for a steak and chicken BBQ. Should be fun if we can beat the rain. Do I sound negative about the lack of weather. YEP

I have been thinking of the 'not drinking much beer and being in bed by 10:00PM'. I can't quite get my arms around that one.

I think Rachael gets there next week. Maybe she can cast some light on the subject.

Love you and miss you,
d
