If the spelling is bad, please forgive me, the keys on the keyboard are all different here in Paris. Well we finally made it to Paris. In order to get here we took the chunnel from London which was actually quite fun. Riding in a train travelling at 140 mph is really exhilorating. Our first night in Paris turned out to be very interesting. Because we had to book our hostel at the very last minute, we didnt have the best of selections to choose from so we ended up staying in the projects of Paris. Not only was I worried about my possessions, but also being mugged. We ended up being forced to stay up until about 3 in the morning because they overbooked our room and made us all pay the price for it. In the morning Eric and I quickly got out of there and left for the hostel that we are presently at which is quite beautiful. Our hostel now has an outside terrace where we have an excellent view of the basillica up on the hill (located in the pictures). We have our own bathroom in a room with only two other beds which have been empty so far. All this for a mere 23 euros. Yesterday in Paris we just took it easy. We saw some of the local sites and ventured about. Paris has these baguette sandwiches with sausage and cheese that are excellent and only about 3 bucks! I have a good feeling that we are going to be living on these during our stay here in Paris. We also went out to the Latin quarter and had a couple of beers and a pizza, both of which were great.
Today has beeb a very busy day so far. we have been to both the Louvre and to the Notre Dame. The Louvre was really cool but it is huge. We decided that we should probably go and see the big stuff first before everything starts blending together. The included the Venus De Milo and the Mona Lisa. Overall the Louvre was really amazing. We then walked to the Notre Dame cathedral and let me tell you, this place is huge. Another thing about Paris is that the weather changes constantly and very quickly. It was raining and completely gray when we entered the Notre Dame and when we came out 15 minutes later, it was blue skys and gorgeous. Our final night in Paris was great, we hung out with a group from Canada and had a picnic with some beverages at the base of the Eiffel tower. We tried to get to the top with some champagne but they checked our bags and it didnt quite work out. The top was great, we timed it just right to see the sun setting over the city. That sunset was probably the best I have ever seen and being in Paris just made it that much better. Well, off to Belgium. Love, Ryan.
