I jumped on a train and travelled down to the island of Sylt in Germany, where I spent a week hanging out with Mark and his girlfriend Kristine. Paul and I had met them in Pucon, Chile and then I had spent three weeks with Mark in Buenos Aires having a laugh. Arriving at the train station landed me in the local police holding room, where two policemen and their German Shepherd went through every inch of my bag to find whatever they could. Welcome to Germany! After a nice "thank you for assistance Ryan", I repacked my bags (as they seemed to have no idea how a backpacker manages to jam all his rubbish into his bag) and got outta there. Although I knew I wasn't carrying anything illegal, having a German Shepherd and two Policemen treat you as a dodgy character makes anyone sweat like it's going out of fashion.....especially me!

I followed the people and music down to the beach where Mark was working in a tent selling beer. Yep that's right. A German World Cup Windsurfing beach party. After pushing my way through hundreds of drunk party animals with my huge backpack on, I finally found Mark behind a bar and proceeded to involve myself in the festivities......and the man behind the bar helped out all night!! The next night was spent in similar fashion.

The rest of the time we chilled out at the house Mark was looking after, cruised around the island and hung out with his friends.

The island is only about 40km in length and in the smallest section about 250m wide, so to say it didn't take long to check out the island is an understatement. Nonetheless, it was cool to be there and chill out with friends I'd made on previous travels around the world.

Soon enough it was time to hit the road and head back to Denmark.

Cheers for the laughs mate.
