The whole time I was in Buenos Aires I had a plan to head over to Uruguay and have a quick look. The longer I stayed in the city the harder it was to leave, even if only for a day. But with a day free before heading north I decided to make the trip with Maggie, a lovely local girl from Buenos Aires who I met through a some friends. She was kind enough to be our (Paul and Kate)guide and showed us all around the beautiful city of B.A., both day and night.

We jumped on the three hour boat (slow cruise) early in the morning and headed to Colonia del Sacramento (founded in 1680 by the Portuguese). Colonia was a point of contention between Portugal and Spain early in its history and as a result of the settlement the Spanish built their own settlement in Montevideo (the capital).

Walking down to the historic center of town was like a walk back in time. This old colonial town is renowned for its cobbled, winding streets and colourful houses reminiscent of old Lisbon. So cruising around was heaps of fun because we checked out all the sights and sounds.

After seeing the old town and eating lunch we decided to hire a scooter and check out some other sights at the other end of town. Now what side of the street should i be driving on? hahaha. Nah it was all good. Saw the old bullring which was pretty grand in its day and then the old horse racecourse (still in use).

Soon enough it was time to drop the bike off and jump on the boat back to B.A!
It was well worth the little trip to get over there! Cheers for the company Maggie.

Now Paul, Kate and I are off to the Iguazu falls right up in the top of Argentina. See you all then.

Hey there travelling dude
I sure am envious of your ramblings, my friend. I can live vicariously through you whilst I engage in the chores of being a new mum - feeding, washing, cleaning, wiping bums, encouraging sleep and feeding again. Whilst you are off meeting people and penguins, climbing bars and glaciers, gazing at mountains and the undersides of a top bunk. Cheers to you, you groover. I am keeping a tally of your typing and spelling errors so you can do your corrections when you get back. You will need a few lunchtimes to do them, methinks. Lots of Love, Lib x
