My flight to Dublin on friday was amazing! Coming in over the Emerald Isle was like nothing I had ever seen before...I could clearly make out the rock pile fences, green pastures and countless sheep, cows and horses. The airport landing strip forces you to land right over the bay of dublin...a beautiful sight. Once i had landed though...it was time to make my way to the hostel and meet up with one of my best friends in the whole wide world, Emma!
After a pleasant cab drive to my hostel, I contacted Emma and found out she was in the pub district of Dublin known as the Temple Bar area (big shocker there Emma!). I made my way to the district and found Emma, my old friend Natalie from Mullen, and several of their friends sitting in a pub and eating fish and chips and drinking some Guinness. After we all got some food and drank some beers, we decided that we would go to take that tour of the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery. The distillery is 229 years old and contains all of the original equipment that was used to make the first barrels of whiskey. During our tour, Emma and I were chosen to be "whiskey taste testers" at the end of the tour. We would eventually regret this, but like the Jameson motto, "sine metu" meaning no fear, Emma and I were up to the challenge! The end of the tour came and they sat us down to do our taste test of Jack Daniels, Jameson, and Johnny Walker. In essence, we had to take 4 shots of whiskey. Needless to say, after we received our "taste tester" diplomas, we were drunk!
After the tour, we headed out for dinner. We found our way to a nice pub with taps of Guinness at every table. I gave the waitress my credit card and started pouring! Dinner was great and we concluded our night with dancing, drinking, and having fun at the pub! The next morning I was off to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher(DIFFERENT BLOG)!
After I got back from Galway at around 10pm on saturday, I had to find Emma again. Where did i find her? Temple Bar area...am i the only one seeing a trend? HA anyway, after several drunken texts messages trying to facilitate my arrival at the bar and a 20Euro cab ride because they gave me the wrong name of the pub, I finally arrived at the pub and found out we were doing a pub crawl! It didnt take long for me to throw down some Bulmers Irish Ciders and Guinness' so that I could get on Emma's level. The night went on for quite some time at the different pubs and clubs. After about 2am, we headed back to our hostel...but had to make at stop at McDonalds of course (its a ritual to eat at one in every country I visit...im starting to see an impact...sad face) After being fatties, we headed back to out hostel. The next day emma and her friends were off to the Blarney castle, and I would be heading back to Madrid.
