Even though I had only been in Madrid for just short of 2 weeks, I was ready to travel! I couldnt have asked for a better place to start! I took off from Barajas International Airport in Madrid, heading to Frankfurt, Germany for a short lay-over before going to Prague, Czech Republic.
DAY 1: I arrived in Prague late in the evening on Thursday. Not knowing a single word of Czech made finding the correct bus to our hotel a challenge, but we figured it out! Even though we didnt arrive to our hotel till about 1 in the morning, we decided to walk around the city in search of food/bars/clubs/etc. This is the first time I realized how CHEAP this country is! I got a chicken sandwich, a gyro, and a drink for 50 Czech Koruna (like 5 bucks)! It was weird. Prague was like a combination of East and West. The main city was very westernized and wealthy, but if you walk away from the city, you feel like you are in the Communist era! After we got our share of food, we headed back to the hotel to get some shut eye so that we could see the city in the morning!
DAY 2: Friday was gorgeous. The weather was perfect and it was a balmy 60 degrees! We headed to Old Town Prague and viewed the Astronomical Clock and Hall Tower. We also saw the Tyn Cathedral and the main city square. The city was amazing and the people were so friendly. We did a little shopping and then continued our tour of the city across the river via the Charles Bridge (the most famous in Prague). By this time, our feet were hurting and we decided to go to get some lunch! CHICKEN SCHNITZEL and POTATOES!!!!!! Czech Republic still has the best food I have had yet in Europe. After lunch, we headed back to the hotel for a nap in order to prepare for a night on the town.
When we woke up, we headed to dinner. This time....BEEF GOULASH! num num num. That night, we headed to one of the most popular bars in the city and meet two HILARIOUS americans! (well one was canadian, but we all know thats not a real country) We wound up staying out till about 5 or 6 in the morning getting a little drunk on Absinthe! haha
DAY 3: Today we decided to visit Prague castle! It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever scene. The view over the city was amazing. We also returned to the Old Town and I did a little shopping for the family. For dinner that night, we ate a restaurant that was supposed to resemble a cave, and all the waiters were cavemen. They yelled at you for your order and slammed all the plates and grunted all the time! The food was pretty good thought. Again that we decided to go out and hit the bars. It was a rough (6am) night...and we had to be up at 9 to get ready for our flight back to Spain.
DAY 4: We stumbled our way back to the airport and boarded out plane to Spain!
