Cinque Terre (5 lands) comprises of 5 fishing villages on the Italian Riviera....Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.
I have just said goodbye to Andrew, who is off to somewhere else in Italy. I am staying here until Aug 4th (3 more full days).
We have been staying at a superb place called Hotel Souvenir in Monterosso...a great guy named Dave from Australia is staying in our room, and now it is just Dave and I.
Cinque Terre is truly dream-like. I recommend that anyone who enjoys good views and/or hiking, MUST visit this area.
There are about 20 hiking trails, all of which in some way connect each of the 5 towns to each other. Yesterday, I hiked along the coast to each of the 5 towns...it was the best hike I've ever done, for sure.
The hikes are challenging, depending on your pace, but exceedingly rewarding. I cant think of better photos than those I took on this hike.
At each town there are beaches, and also some between towns, so I was taking dips along the way.
The trails are popular enough so you are saying hello/ciao/tak/bonjour frequently. I was also fortunate enough to meet and hike with some great people for certain segments. Andrew and I and a girl from the US hiked the 1st segment together, but Andrew turned back as he wasnt feelin so well.
It was very hot and I drank no less than 8 litres of liquid throughout the day.
Today I am taking it easy and will spend some time on the beach and once I get my hands on some snorkeling gear, will explore the crystal clear waters and caves.
I guess I will have to post another entry for Cinque Terre!
