We woke up early this morning to catch a ferry boat to the greek island Paros.  Got down to the port of Piraeus and found out that all the ferries were booked until the next afternoon. We wouldn't have enough time to see the island if we left in the afternoon, so we went to a travel agency we found in the back of our Eurail guide book.

At the travel agency, we were able to book a roundtrip ferry to the island of Aegina for 28 Euros total! This was much better than the 78 euros we would have paid with the other ferry.

The rest of the day was set aside for touring Athens. We started out by going to the Roman Agora and purchased an "attraction" pass for 12 euros- it gave us admission into everything we wanted to see. Finally- a good deal!

After the Roman Agora, we saw Ancient Agora, the Acropolis, the Temple of Zeus, the Olympic Stadium, the National Garden, Keramikos, and Hadrians Library.  During this sightseeing we sweat so much! Athens was hot as lightning! It was 100 in the shade and soooo humid. Thank god for deodorant and cold showers!

We went back to the hostel and checked into a new room, we couldn't stay in the same room the second night as it was already booked. We decided to pay for air conditioning- the best 4 euros ever spent!  We wanted to go out for dinner- have another greek dish, but this turned out to be complicated.

All the restaurants were quite expensive for dishes we weren't quite interested in. We ended up at a spanish, italian, greek resaurant. The menu was in italian, and had quesidillas, but they were more of a fried calzone with filling. So I think it is safe to say we had the greek version of a mexican dish.... an interesting interpretation, thats for sure.

We got free dessert- a chocolate crepe! It was delicious.

During dinner, the sun had set, it was a little after 9:00 and it was STILL 80 degrees out and humid. There is no getting away from the heat!

We went back to the hostel took cold showers, and got ready for our island adventure.
