My last day here in Washington D.C. is tomorrow. With the help of my counselor, I have decided not to return to Samoa. Now is not the right time in my life to be taking on such a huge task that is such a challenge to my true self. However, I do hope to return someday soon.

The past 6 weeks has offered me a great opportunity to see myself for who I am and what I want to accomplish in life. I have given up unhealthy habits such as biting my nails and begun more healthy habits like exercising regularly. It felt great to get back into a swimming pool! Well, I had a bad headache the first couple of times because of the condition I was in, but quickly got over the pain. I feel like a more happy human being these days, and my energy level is back up there.

I have also begun real life. I have applied to numerous jobs already, bought a suit, and have my first interview this weekend in New York for a teaching fellowship. I am also applying for jobs at Peace Corps, volunteering positions through AmeriCorps, and various other positions I've found at www.idealist.org.

I will be returning to the San Francisco area next week where I will continue the job search. Then I can worry about finding housing. I jumped the gun here looking for housing before establishing a job, but I learned from that mistake. I am looking for an entry-level position in the New York, Boston, or Washington D.C. area. I am even considering Hawaii and Alaska too. If you happen to know of someone looking to hire help, I can tell you that Returned Peace Corps Volunteers make great employees. :-)

This is my final posting. No more. I'm finished. Ua uma. Thank you for supporting me through the past 11 months. You can reach me at samoaryan@yahoo.com for the next couple of months at least.
