Where I stayed

So we drive into Phoenix, finally ready to be in the big city, and I'm kind of disappointed. The downtown is full of construction and no one is walking around. I realized it was a Saturday and was also pretty hot so we continued to Tempe to eat and find our hotel. We walked around for a VERY short amount of time and took pictures of the Sun Devil stadium, where Tennessee won its national championship in 1998. After feeling the intense heat, we went to find our hotel and escape the sauna. Once we got in our place and turned on the weather channel, we realized it wasn’t just our imagination; it was 110 degrees outside in downtown Phoenix and surrounding areas! I couldn’t believe it. It was so hot, you couldn’t do anything except stay inside and wait for nighttime when it got to a chilly 85. We found out there was a Diamondback game going on that night and we decided to check it out. Luckily, it had a retractable roof so it wasn’t unbearable. After we left the game, we decided to see if the ASU nightlife was any better than UTs. We ended up walking around to a few places that some students were at and had a pretty fun time. The students seemed pretty cool, but I don’t know if I could attend there solely based upon the heat. It was just simply oppressive. We woke up to ants all over our sink and crickets in the bed, so we decided to leave that hotel pretty soon; plus at 10 in the morning, it was hot enough to cook eggs on the sidewalk. We were excited to leave anyways though because we were going to be in San Diego by dinnertime!
