After we booked a hotel in New Buffalo, we started heading west around the lake towards Chicago. After going through 4 tolls, a thunderstorm, and almost 2 hours of traffic, we finally parked our cars and boarded the cta towards downtown. We walk out of the Washington station and are completely overwhelmed with our surroundings. It was awesome! We tried to find our hotel by walking around and was pleased to find out that it was only a few blocks from the Willis tower and Chicago Art museum. We decided to eat dinner at an authentic chicago pizzeria that the guy at the front desk of our hotel recommended to us, Giordano's. It was about 2 inches thick and delicious! After going back to let some of the pizza digest (I think we both ate about 2 lbs of pizza), we decided to go out for a drink and again asked the front desk where a good place was. He told us to try the Tilted Kilt a couple of blocks away. It was a sports bar where we watched both Chicago baseball teams play that night. We wanted to go watch the White Sox play since they were in town, but ended up not having time. After a drink we decided to call it a night. Once we woke up the next morning, we decided to go to the Sky Deck in Willis tower first thing. This was a good idea because it got crowded fast! I highly recommend doing it at least once in your life, it is truly a great experience. When I was about to take my first step onto the glass overhang my mind was telling me it was going to be fine, but my body was timid to step. It's surreal to be that high up in the air and be able to see directly beneath you.
After checking out of the hotel, we went to the art museum and looked at some pretty famous pieces. I think Daniel had a better time than I did there, but it was still fun. We proceded to walk around centennial park and the waterfront until heading back to the train to say goodbye to Chicago. We left around 3 or 4 towards Iowa...
