Where I stayed
Krabi Mountain View resort
Tonsai is a world famous area of Thailand for it's great rock climbing and many different routes from easy to extremely challenging. There is no road access to Tonsai, so you have tot take a long tail boat from a nearby city, either Krabi or Ao Nang.
Because it is now the off season in Thailand, many places are much cheaper to stay. We found some bungalows that were usually 1000 Baht ($32), but we only paid 300 baht ($10). The bungalows were clean and the beds very comfortable.
Day 1
We booked a "Deep Water Solo" rock climbing trip for our first day. Basically you climb without a harness or ropes, only your shoes. You are on an overhanging cliff above the water, and you just jump off or fall into the water. It was so much fun, but it was a little scary to jump back into the water after climbing so high! It is probably even more fun for an experienced climber, but we had a great time anyway.
Day 2
Spent most of the day relaxing and resting as we were pretty sore from our day of rock climbing From Tonsai, you can walk through the jungle over to Railay Beach East or Railay Beach West and we checked them both out. The east beach is mostly mangrove forests and muddy flats, but the west beach is very beautiful. Spent the afternoon relaxing in the shade and swimming.
Day 3
For our last day in Tonsai we booked a half day of regular rock climbing, as we wanted to head back to Krabi town in the evening. The climbing was great! The views from the top of each route were amazing, just jungle, beaches and turquoise seas. Everyone did a really great job climbing and we felt great. After that we had lunch with our guide and tried to get back to Krabi.
