Early start today didn't get much sleep last night must be all them buckets of Carlsberg I had, Me and Ted are booked on the first of 4 air Asia flights that we are doing this holiday

The 0700am KL to Yogyakarta no dramas at the airport with overweight luggage this time and the plane boarded on time ,managed to get a couple of hours sleep on the plane and we are now in Indonesia Yogyakarta to be exact.

We were delayed outside Yogyakarta airport owing to airport congestion and arrived about 15 minutes late however when we touched down ours was the only plane at the airport it was that small made me laugh congestion what congestion!

No luggage carousel at this airport ohh no they hand you your baggage personally nice touch , got our 30 day visas as well with relative ease although they now take your picture and fingerprints from both hands at passport control.

Smoothe transfer to the Phoenix hotel another one of my internet choices the hotel has a bit of a colonial feel to it , I like hotels that have a bit of character to them its still early about 11am and the room isn’t ready , as part of the trip ive already agreed that we will get the train to Bali instead of flying because my friend Ted has a bit of an interest in Trains and as im doing a lot of diving I guess its only fair maybe ill live to regret my more caring side coming out who knows.

So off for a bit of an explore & this place is hot as hell phew , found the train station & booking a train is a bit like buying something out of the Argos catalogue you fill in the details on a small form and hand it to a cashier after collecting your queue number from the security guard.

Our tickets to Surabaya are for Wednesday afternoon we join the 1400 Argos Willis Executive class train to Surabaya

After a walk round town and an award winning speech from a batik sales conman we were able to check into our room , Not a lot to say about the room nice balcony over the back of the hotel great shower and good aircon nothing to complain about here free wireless internet as well bonus.

After a shower it was beer time had our first Bintang firstly for those who haven’t tried it I love it giant bottles 625ml & relatively cheap apart from at our hotel so we had just the one and got a cab to a local bar aptly named the Bintang Café typical Asian bar a bit spit and sawdust but cheap beer and friendly staff ate at a restaurant round the corner had local Indonesian cuisine tonight Yogya fried chicken yum off to bed tomorrow we have booked a trip to one of Asia’s finest relics of the past Borobudur
