We traveled all day Sunday and got to Chicago at the time we left Beijing, 4:00 pm. Time does strange things that way.

On the flight home, my seatmates were two young men from Beijing who hadn't known each other before their trip. Both were from Beijing, both were flying for the first time and both were going to America for the first time. Both have taken Western first names, so their names are George Zhang and Joe Chen. My estimation of their ages is mid to late twenties. George works for a software company that sends employees to the US for three months at a time on a rotation. George is arriving and his colleague is leaving. George will be working for a partner software company in the US, designing security software. Joe is a student at Northeastern University in Boston, coming to get his master's degree in infomatics. Both were delightful young men and we practiced their English on most of the flight. George gave me his card and invited me to contact him if I ever need a guide in Beijing.

It's 4:00 am and my body thinks it's afternoon. My next steps are to complete my blog entries, sort and post pictures, prepare a presentation for staff and students and organize an exchange trip to China with students. It's good to be back!
