Where I stayed
Mike and Jill's vila
Campello sul Clitunno
Today Mike takes us for provisions for our picnic we are planning for Tuesday. They leave for NY today and we will be on our own. Mike has us drive so we get the feeling of Italian roads and drivers. He takes to the local butcher, Hugo, an artist with meat. He makes beautifully aged prosciutto, 15 months, compared with the 2 months in the US. Also makes the pecorino, three different versions, we buy the medium aged.
Mike makes lunch from fresh eggplant and tomatoes, fresh from the garden and turkey breast. We sat on the veranda and chatted until it is time for them to leave for NY.
Marty and I swim and doze by the pool, naked. Around 7:00 we dressed and walked to the local restaurant to have dinner late, by our standard and arrive a half an hour too early. We had an antipasto as Mike suggested but didn't stop there, we ordered pasta. I had the potato gnocchi with truffles and mascarpone. Marty had the pasta with spicy red sauce. Stuffed with doggy bags in hand, we staggered back down the hill in the cool night air.
