i think I was even more tired than I realised and my afternoon nap lasted until 4 pm. I then managed to get down to the colesseum for the last English tour. It was worth spending the money to have some of it explained. It's a pretty impressive building but there are some very steep steps which my knee was not a fan of and I suspect my body will not like tomorrow. It's unbelievable that a large amount of what you can see around the colesseum was until recently under houses etc. They are still excavating loads of it.

After the colesseum tour there was a tour of palatine hill. Now that was up another load of steps etc. Those Romans did like living on the tops of hills. Palatine hill was where the emperors used to live and it's pretty incredible all round. I've taken loads of pictures of ruins etc. I took a few on my iPhone so you don't have to wait for me to get back to upload the majority of my pictures. There is so much to see on palatine hill I could have spent a lot longer there but the place was closing at 7 and I wanted to see the roman forum so if I have time I may go back (although maybe I'll go another time as I'm not keen on climbing that hill again.

One thing I found really exciting is that there were orange and lemon trees growing real oranges and lemons! I took pictures I was so impressed!

On my way out I had a quick look at the roman forum but it is mostly ruins. It is incredibly beautiful though and so so old.

I then walked back up the via del corso where my hotel is and though I would check out one of the restaurants the hotel had recommended. Basically €14 euros for grilled chicken. So I went to mcdonalds! To be honest I wanted something quick and cheap as I was hot and tired and my feet hurt. Also I know I'm not going to have a bad reaction to it (i.e. that pizza is having the usual effect on me). After having a big mac and fries (I'm so English abroad) I realised I was really close to the Trevi fountain. As it was starting to get dark I thought it would be a good time to go as the lights would be on. Now that is one bloody impressive fountain. It's huge!! I never realised how big it is. It was difficult to get a picture of it as it is so big.

I then wandered back to the hotel (slowly as my feet were killing me) and saw a cut through of a building which looked interesting. It was a beautifully decorated courtyard. I have no idea what this building is as it's not shown on the map. I suppose that is what Rome is, thousands of beautiful buildings so only the main ones get marked on a map. It'll be interesting to see what I stumble across tomorrow ( as ling as my feet are ok).

It is now 9pm (8pm uk time) and I'm in bed watching American programmed dubbed into Italian. Although there was an episode of jersey shore in English. Rocking!
