We drove north from Death Valley with the air-con blasting ( as we could) and as we were driving up the main street in Bishop we decided we wanted to explore it a bit more as it looked so quaint.  It was one of the places in america which didn't look like it was about to close down.

We looked for the campsite but the address seemed to take us to a feed shop but as the people were were staying with had a number of campsites in the area so we went back to the campground we saw on the way in and checked in there.

Afterwards we headed to Kmart to see if we could find any western style shirts for my brothers.  We didn't find any in there but Dad found some more Wrangler shirts.  We went back to the main street and saw a western store but then drove round and round to find somewhere to park.  Eventually we find somewhere and got to the shop about 1/2 hour before it shut.  There were loads of shirts and we managed to find suitable ones for my brothers but when we were paying we started talking to the bloke who owned the shop and we were there talking to him for over an hour.  It was very interesting to see things from a small town US view (and it certainly wasn't the same view as the tea party bloke in New Jersey).

Bishop was a nice little place which was thriving, but we didn't have time to explore it too much.  There was a place called a Bakkery.  I think it was a bakery....

We headed back to the campground and plugged in in the dark, again.  We had no TV or Internet, so we went to bed early.  It was the start of early nights as we had no luxuries.
